ARMM cops lauded for successful war vs drugs

CAMP SK PENDATUN, Maguindanao -- Police Director-General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa on Thursday lauded the police in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao for its role in war on drugs in the region.

Dela Rosa was guest of honor during the 116th anniversary of the Philippine National Police at Camp SK Pendatun in Parang town Thursday afternoon.

Dela Rosa also awarded a rookie policeman who returned P20,000 cash he found at the ATM booth of Land Bank in Cotabato City.

Speaking during the program, Dela Rosa praised the officers and men of PRO-ARMM for their dedication in addressing security issues in the region, especially in Marawi City.

He said PNP leadership was honored with the commitment of ARMM police in helping restore normalcy in troubled city.

Police and other government forces are still fighting terrorists in Marawi City, many of whom have perished.

“I am proud of the dedication of our personnel serving in Marawi City. I am grateful to them for their sacrifices there,” Dela Rosa said.

While he lauded the police for a job well done, Dela Rosa warned rank-and-file personnel to be ready to also face legal battles that may come as they perform law enforcement in their respective localities.

“Just keep going. Continue working hard in ensuring public safety,” Dela Rosa added.

Specifically, Dela Rosa lauded PRO-ARMM Director Chief Supt. Reuben Sindac for leading PNP-ARMM in sustaining President Duterte’s war on drugs in the region.

Highlighting the program was the awarding of medals to deserving police officers. Among them was PO1 Jose Angelo Zorilla, assigned with the Regional Public Safety Battalion who was detailed in Marawi City following the siege on May 23.

He went on a three-day leave from Marawi City and stayed with his family in Cotabato City when he found the money left by its rightful owner inside an ATM booth.

For honesty, Zorilla, a son of former Army officer, received the Medalya ng Papuri.(PNA)
