In a statement, Gatchalian noted that more Filipinos are expected to
travel to their provinces, or tourist spots, including foreign destinations, to
take advantage of the extended holiday break due to the upcoming Barangay and
Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE) leading to All Saints’ Day and All Souls’
Day.
“A concerted effort is needed to swiftly address and resolve any road
and transport-related issues that may arise,” he said.
When it comes to air travel, he said it is imperative to implement
robust security protocols and advanced detection technologies to enhance the
safety of both passengers and airport personnel.
He said similar measures to enhance the safety and security of passengers
using maritime transport systems should also be adopted, including continuous
maintenance of boats and vessels, the presence of life-saving equipment, and
well-trained crew members to ensure that no accidents will happen.
“As for land travel, the Toll Regulatory Board should address the usual
vehicular bottlenecks during peak seasons. And to toll road users, please go
for the Radio-frequency identification system for toll payment and pre-load
your accounts for a smoother and more convenient travel experience,” Gatchalian
said. (PNA)
