PRO9 Celebrates 116th Police Service Anniversary Celebration

Zamboanga City  -  The Chief of the Philippine National Police PDG RONALD MARAPON “BATO” DELA ROSA led the PRO9 celebration of the 116th Police Service Anniversary with the theme “Buhay ng Pulis Handang Ibuwis Para sa Katahimikan at Kaayusan ng Bayan” held on November 9, 2017 at the PRO9 Quadrangle, Camp Col Romeo Abendan, Mercedes, Zamboanga City. The annual celebration aims to promote community awareness and participation, to give tribute to police comrades for the bravery, dedication and sacrifice in the performance of duties and to commemorate the birth of police service in the country.

One of the highlights of its 116th year celebration was the giving of awards and recognition to deserving PNP units and personnel. Special awards were also given to outstanding Municipal Police Station and to police personnel.

Another highlight of the activity was Pass-in-Review where the PRO9 personnel showcased their operational firepower and tactical capabilities before the Chief, PNP.

The 116th Police Service Celebration is in commemoration of the joint founding anniversaries of the Insular Constabulary established in 1901 and the Integrated National Police (INP) organized in 1975, both forerunner organizations of the PNP. This is to address the need to consolidate fragmented peace and order and the anti-criminality efforts into a national and development program.

The event was graced by PDG RONALD “BATO” DELA ROSA, Chief PNP, as the Guest of Honor and Speaker wherein in his resounding message, he cited the notable performance of PRO9 under the gallant leadership of PCSUPT BILLY B BELTRAN for its relentless efforts in the fight against all forms of criminality in the region especially in the fight against illegal drugs during Oplan Double Barrel Alpha and Oplan Double Barrel Alpha Reloaded. He urged the PRO9 leadership to re-focused on the operations against prevalent crimes especially the incidents perpetrated by Motorcycle Riding in-Tandem and to intensify the Internal Cleansing Program among its rank.

The 116th Police Service Anniversary Celebration culminated with the traditional boodle fight with the Chief, PNP and party and the PRO9 personnel and other invited guest.
