DBS Municipality Potential Economic Hub visited by MOTC-BARMM Minister

Cotabato City - Living with the mandate of the agency, MOTC-BARMM Minister Dickson P. Hermoso, a retired army officer and champion of the peace process made an ocular inspection in one of the promising and strategic local government units, Datu Blah Sinsuat municipality for transportation and communication ventures on Saturday November 28, 2020.

Minister Hermoso is welcomed by Honorable Mayor Datu Marshal Sinsuat and wife Vice Mayor Bai Raida Tomawis-Sinsuat together with other local officials.

The said local chief executive is proposing to the regional autonomous government, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) that the establishment of seaport and communication facility is a strategic option to consider for the region’s economic connectivity in the island and mainland provinces of the region, Mindanao, the whole country and its neighbor countries especially in the BIAMP.

The municipality is situated in a very strategic location, and can be one of the economic hubs of the region, the local chief executive expressed during the presence of the transportation and communication Minister’s visit.

The Minister, ensuring that the opportunity can be witnessed by other officials, brought with him the agencies’ sectoral heads namely, General Manager Garib Abas of the Bangsamoro Regional Ports Management Authority (BRPMA); Director Sajiron Alonto of the Bangsamoro Maritime Industry Authority (BMARINA); Director Hamid Bayao of the Bangsamoro Telecommunication Commission (BTC); Chief Regulation officer Anwar Upahm of the Bangsamoro Land Transportation Office (BLTO) and the MOTC staff.

The agency’s direction during the political transition is that it commits to enable the safe, orderly, timely and economical movement of people and goods and delivery of information. Also, the agency is mandated to have the power to grant regional franchises, licenses, and permits to and exercise quasi-judicial powers over land, sea, and air transportation plying routes within the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region.
