Colorful festival in celebrating the arrival of Shariff Kabunsuan
via Rio Grande de Mindanao more than 500 years ago to introduce Islam to the
natives and display of Muslim religion and culture which will be held from Dec.
15 to 19 every year.
It is a very significant event in Cotabato City and people look forward to various activities lined-up for the week long festivity. The Events include cultural presentations, cultural musical showdown, ethnic sports competition, cultural dances like kuyog, fluvial parade and many more cultural activities prepared by the city government. .
Fluvial parade along Rio Grande de Mindanao, the Kuyog Street Dancing Parade, the Guinakit and re-enactment of the arrival of Shariff Kabunsuan are among the highlights of the festival then followed by Pagana sa Maguindanao or eat all you can or traditional way of dining among maranao’s and Maguindanao’s in honor of special guests and visitors attended the celebration.
The most highlight is
the "Guinakit" accordingly which is the colorful fluvial parade of colorful
decorated bancas along the City wharf of Cotabato City.

Guiani- Sayadi prepared a very bountiful Shariff Kabunsuan Celebration in the
city. Because she looking forward the great traditions of their ancestral that
made them a very popular city not only in local but also in global. The
popularity of Cotabato Shariff Kabunsuan Festival, said ther lady mayor.
