Coastguard rescue cargo vessel sinking to 20 degrees due to heavy rains


Zamboanga City Philippines  (The Redline News Philippines )  -  The Philippine  Coastguard of Zamboanga, ( CGS)  Zamboanga and MCS 3009 assists listing cargo vessel MV E-RICH OF 99.77 gross-tonned steel-hulled cargo vessel accidentally listed twenty (20) degrees to  port side after was battered by big waves while she was underway at vicinity 3.2 nautical miles Southwest off Little Sta Cruz Island, Zamboanga City last, January 16 earlier.

An unknown shipper called and reported the incident to Coast Guard Station Zamboanga at 11:20 AM.

M/V Erich, with ten (10) crew onboard and skippered by Mr. Rey Cabuhay, was loaded with 12,500 bags of cement enroute to Sumisip, Basilan.

This Station, TB 271 Habagat, MCS-3009 and SOUSWM two (2) aluminum boats were immediately dispatched to the area to render necessary assistance to the distressed vessel.


M/V Erich, being assisted by Coast Guard vessels, successfully managed to dock at LIG Marine Pier in Zamboanga City at 1:00 pm of the same day. No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident. (PR/Posted by Becky D. De Asis-The Redline News Philippines)
