Chairperson, Usec. Cariza Seguerra will lead the participants to the regional
consultations for the crafting of the Philippine Youth Development Plan (PYDP)
2017-2022. As mandated by law, the PYDP shall provide policy and program
direction for the development and participation of the Filipino youth in
nation-building.
Starting August 31, 2016 until October 05, 2016, NYC will conduct a series of consultations throughout the 18 regions of the country to gather inputs from representatives of youth organizations, youth-serving organizations, and national government agencies. Fifty (50) youth participants are expected to join each consultation.
The PYDP 2017-2022 shall be formulated through a participatory and inclusive approach to identify the following: (a) key issues facing the youth (b) opportunities, enabling conditions, and proposed strategies and policies which government, other duty bearers and stakeholders should further create and provide; and (c) the role of the Filipino youth as rights holders and duly bearers.
“Bringing the PYDP to the grassroots is just the first step in bringing the NYC closer to its clientele. Starting this year, the NYC will be more reachable and accessible for the Filipino youth.” Chairperson Seguerra said.
The Commission will hold simultaneous consultations in the following areas : Cebu City; Baguio City; Butuan City; Agusan del Norte; Zamboanga City; Malvar, Batangas; Cotabato City, Maguindanao; San Fernando, La Union; Bacolod City; Negros Occidental; Cagayan de Oro City; Legaspi City; Tuguegarao City; Davao City; Iloilo City and San Fernando, Pampanga.
“The Commission needs to come up with a
coherent and pro-youth PYDP that identifies strategies to effectively address
key issues especially those affecting the youth sector. We are looking forward
to meet proactive youth as we go around the country,” Chairperson Seguerra
added. (posted by Becky D. de Asis/the redline news desk)
