MANILA -- Makati police arrested two Japanese nationals for
possessing counterfeit American currency on Monday.
In a report to the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), the
police said Noa Shimegi, 27, was arrested at the Imelda Money Exchange located
at Hidalgo Tower, Rockwell Center, Barangay Poblacion, Makati City.
While he was undergoing initial investigation around 7:30 p.m.,
authorities arrested Shimegi's compatriot for offering a bribe.
Yoshitaka Yamamoto, 48, a Japanese national, was also arrested for
bribery after he offered the amount of PHP50,000 in exchange for the release of
Shimegi.
Recovered from Shimegi were 10 pieces of counterfeit USD100 bills while
confiscated from Yoshitaka were the 50 pieces of PHP1,000 bills. (PNA/By Benjamin Pulta )
