COTABATO CITY -- The Office of the Regional Governor in the
Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ORG-ARMM) has passed the accreditation
process and was granted the quality management certification
by the
International Organization for Standardization (ISO) - 9001:2015.
On Monday, the ORG-ARMM received its accreditation from TUV Rheinland
Philippines, Inc., following a two-day intensive evaluation on the efficacy of
the ORG’s quality management system (QMS).
Lawyer Laisa Masuhud Alamia, ARMM executive secretary, received the
certificates on behalf of ARMM Governor Mujiv Hataman during a simple ceremony
held at the Shariff Kabunsuan Complex, the provisional seat of the ARMM in this
city.
Earning the ISO 9001:2015, the latest edition of ISO’s flagship QMS
standard, means that the ORG-ARMM attained the international standard and
requirements for an excellent management system.
The scope of the certification includes the provision of completed
staff work for the governor’s issuances and engagements.
Alamia recognized the team's hard work and urged it to continue serving
the Bangsamoro people.
“It will further boost the efforts of the regional government to
provide quality and efficient services to its constituents,” she said.
Norkhalila Mambuay-Campong, Hataman’s chief of staff, said having the
ISO has been a dream for Hataman ever since he stepped into the office seven
years ago.
“Today (Monday) is a memorable day for us. It has always been a dream
since the governor took his post,” she said, recalling the hardships the
governor’s team experienced to provide quality services and address the needs
of the regional government’s constituents.
Alamia said she hopes that the next regional government would continue
to have a quality management system that will have a significant impact on the
lives of the Bangsamoro people.
A new political entity to be called Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in
Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) is set to replace the current ARMM set-up by next year.
Tristan Arwen Loveres, TUV Rheinland managing director, said the award
process requires an organization to be able to “consistently provide products
and services that meet customer and applicable statutory and regulatory
requirements.”
“I know the hard work of the ISO core team. And I told you that time
that the greater challenge is how you can maintain the quality management
system,” Loveres said.
The ORG-ARMM has been awarded its first ISO 9001:2008 certification in
2016.
“True enough, the ORG-ARMM just not continuously maintained the quality
management system but you continuously improved on it,” he said.
As explained by Loveres, the new QMS standard (ISO 9001:2015) gives
more emphasis on risk management and greater leadership involvement to ensure a
more timely and responsive approach in the offices.
Loveres said the certification clearly shows the top management’s
commitment, involvement in giving the quality services, and achievement in
terms of conformity and customer satisfaction. (With reports from Edwin
