Languyan, Tawi-Tawi – President Rodrigo Duterte warned
miners during his State of the Nation Address said “ I will tax you to death”
if the miners still operating most
specially those open pit miners operators.
Duterte said earlier that he wanted to stop exporting
unprocessed mineral resources and warned miners in the worlds top nickel, ore,
or any minerals supplier of imposing more taxes on the industry to raise money
to help communities affected by their operations.
Therefore, the Pax Libera Mining Inc, who operated
in the island of Languyan, Tawi-Tawi assured their operations to follows the
guidelines under the Republic Act No. 7042 or the Philippine Mining Act of 1995
(“the mining act”) of implementing the Rules and Regulations (“IRR”) and
Executive Order No. 79 entitled institutionalizing and implementing Reforms in
the Philippine Mining Sector, Providing policies and Guidelines to Ensure
Environmental Protection and Responsible Mining in Utilization of Mineral
Resources.
The PLMI said , they were follows the rules and regulations for being a responsible miners.
They always check the siltation ponds to avoid of toxic the waterways and or harm people and loss their livelihood most especially in sea shore areas of the said municipality caused of mining operations.

PLMI President Mike Defensor said, they were conducted
several rehabilitations in the area by planting trees and always check their
siltation areas to avoid violation.
With regards to Duterte’s order during his SONA about
the “Tax you to death”, the PLMI assures
also to do and follow the governments rules and regulation about the taxation implemented.
The PLMI said, their operations was very successful because they raised up a big income in three (3) years of operations.
