Jolo, Sulu, Philippines - The Armed Forces of the
Philippines through the Western Mindanao Command, Joint Task Force Sulu and 35th Infantry
(Makamandag) Battalion under Lieutenant Colonel Vladimir Lenos T Villanueva
Infantry (General Staff Course) Philippine Army spearheaded the send-off
ceremony to the 50 Young Leaders of Sulu, four Department of Education Sulu and
four Local Government Units of Sulu representatives going to Kuala Lumpur,
Malaysia via C130 plane for the six days free educational tour from November 22
to November 27, 2016.
The participants are members of the Youth Leadership Summit Alumni in the municipalities of Jolo, Patikul, Talipao and Parang. The purpose of the tour is to expose the youth to a predominantly Muslim society which is peaceful and progressive due to obedience to the law and to authorities by the citizens; and, good governance by their leaders. Likewise, the attendees will be motivated to be advocate of peace, harmony and good governance in their communities and champions against violence, crime and corruption.
The activity was put into action with
the participation and cooperation of the provincial and municipal governments
of Sulu. All expenses such as passports and clearances processing, meals,
transportation and other requirements were all paid by the AFP and LGU of Sulu.
This benevolence is part of the government
effort in defeating the Abu Sayyaf Group and subsequently winning the peac e in Sulu through
Youth engagement.
