Northern Kabuntalan execs surrender loose guns

CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao – The local leaders of North Kabuntalan town in the Province of Maguindanao surrendered a total of 22 unregistered firearms in a turn-over ceremony held at Headquarters 34th Infantry Battalion in Barangay Salunayan, Midsayap, North Cotabato Friday. 

The weapons were handed over by North Kabuntalan Mayor Mary Jane Bayam to Commanding Officer 34th Infantry Battalion, Lt. Colonel Angelo Z Lutera in the presence of Police Chief Inspector Barlowe Espiga, Civil Relation Officer, and Chief of Police Northern Kabuntalan Municipal Police Station Police Senior Inspector Solaiman Bakal.

Mayor Bayam is very optimistic on the response of her constituents to support the campaign of the government against proliferation of loose firearms as this will bring peace to the municipality.

Maj. Gen. Arnel B. Dela Vega, 6th Infantry Division commander, was delighted that the municipality of North Kabuntalan has done its part to contribute in the increasing number of surrendered firearms in the area of 6th ID.

A total of 639 firearms were recovered and surrendered to 6th ID as of today. (Source:NDBC-News)
