Check
their background, get to know their track record and listen to their campaign
platform. These are the important points to consider when casting ballots for
the forthcoming synchronized Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections on May
14, 2018.
"We look forward to installing youth leaders who possess the
commitment, dedication and passion to serve the youth sector," ASec Ronald
Cardema, OIC Chairman of the National Youth Commission said.
For several years,
there has been a vacuum in local youth governance because the SK elections have
been postponed.
"With the passage of the Sangguniang Kabataan Reform Act
of 2015 or Republic Act 10742, we want to develop and strengthen the youth's
leadership capability through the mandatory training that they need to undergo
once they are elected. And also instilling in them that strong sense of
nationalism, discipline, and sense of preparedness for disasters and to
safekeep their communities’’,
Cardema emphasized. It is also important to note
that for youth voters who are between 15-17 years old, they will only fill out
one ballot intended for the SK.
On the other hand, those voters who are between
18-30 years old need to fill out two ballots that is in black ink color for the
barangay and red ink color for the SK.
The youth voters who are between 15-30
years old will vote for the barangay and SK candidates.
