5IB CAA Health Care Program Benefitted A Thousand CAAs and Dependents


Zamboanga Sur  – Atleast  1,150  CAFGU Active Auxiliaries (CAAs) coming from different Patrol Bases of Bravo (Cadre) Company under 5IB together with their dependents had benefitted the 5th Infantry (Duty-Bound) Battalion’s CAA Health Care Program during its first ever program implementation held at San Miguel Gymnasium, Poblacion San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur on September 24, 2016.   

The CAA Health Care Program dubbed with the theme: “Kabayanihan mo, saludo ako.  Kalusugan ko, pangalagaan ko.”, was recently launched last May 21, 2016 at Tabak Gymnasium, Kuta Major Cesar L Sang-an, 1ID, PA, Pulacan, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur.

According to Lieutenant Colonel  Marces T. Gayat of Philippine Army , Commanding Officer, 5IB, 1st Infantry Division said that the  program was conceptualized with the aim to enhance the health conditions of the CAAs and their dependents by providing them with sustainable health care and education in order for them to perform well in any of their given tasks and functions while maintaining peace and security in their respective communities and area of operations. 

During the activity’s opening ceremony, the Guest of Honor and Speaker Honorable Congresswoman Aurora E. Cerilles, Representative of the 2nd District of Zamboanga del Sur lauded every 5IB Duty-Bound trooper particularly LTC GAYAT for conceptualizing the CAA Health Care Program that aside from giving attention to the CAAs’ health conditions, it recognized them on their selfless service, sacrifices, and heroism for the sake of peace and security of their respective communities which eventually uplift their morale in performing their duties and functions. 

In the whole day conduct of medical and dental civic action activity, the CAA and dependent beneficiaries were given free medical check-up and consultation; dental check-up and tooth extraction; circumcision; blood sugar test; deworming; free haircut and free medicines and vitamins. 

Among the stakeholders who in Bayanihan spirit extended their support and generosity by giving their free medical and dental services as well as free medicines are: Hon. Mayor Angelito L. Martinez of San Miguel; Hon. Mayor Danilo I. Dalid of Tigbao; and Hon. Mayor Joel E. Sulong of Lapuyan, all of Zamboanga del Sur; Medical and Dental personnel of Kuta Mayor Cesar L Sang-an Station Hospital headed by LTC MARILYN O TOLENTINO; Dr. Danilo R Labasan of Margosatubig Regional Hospital; Dr. Patrick Kem Toledo of RHU Dumalinao; Rev. Fr. Rey S. Mutia of San Miguel Parish; Health personnel of Tukuran, San Miguel, San Pablo, V-Sagun, Guipos, Dimataling, Dumalinao, Tabina and Dinas RHUs, and other concerned stakeholders.
