SULU – The Hugpong Federal Movement of the Philippines conducted
forum on federalism in far-flung
municipality of this province last October 12 to give the overview on federal
form of government proposed by President Rodrigo R. Duterte in address to
inequality development in the countryside.
Celso
A. Tizon, HFMP national chairman, said federalism may address inequality
problem in the country.
“This
will solve insurgency problem in the country,” said Tizon.
Meanwhile,
Mayor Hadar Hajiri of the town of Lugus, this province said that federalism is
a good form of government because it gives autonomy to local government in
bringing development to their areas.
“I
am very thankful if the federal government would be pursued earlier by our
President Rodrigo Duterte,” he said.
“Lugus still undeveloped town…no roads, no school buildings, no
police stations, electricity, potable water and
everything is none,” said Hajiri.
“I want the President Rodrigo Duterte to look into these problems,” he added.
On the other hand, HFMP secretary general Virgilio “Boy” Dela Cruz
said forum is an eye opener to everybody where we can hear from resource
speakers about federalism.
About 4,000 residents coming from 17 barangays attended the forum
in Lugus town on October 12 organized by the local chapter of the movement. (by:
