Zamboanga City
- Two alleged members of Abu Sayyaf Group and a wanted person who was facing
murder charges were arrested during the conduct of police operations and
serving of warrant of arrest carried out by combined elements of Intel Branch
of Zamboanga City Police Office, Zamboanga City Police Station 11, CIDM, Anti-
Kidnapping Group, Task Force Zamboanga, 530W2, CTD-IG, PCTC, WMFO and SWAT CIDU
9, Anti- Cybercrime Group, at Gerry’s Grill entrance of Atilano Pension House
located at Barangay Canelar, Zamboanga City at about 2:45 PM of October 3,
2016.
Arrested wanted
person was identified as Abdel Dela Cruz, a wanted person for the crime of
Murder under Criminal Case Nr: 1989-3 issued by Judge Betlee-Ian J Barraquias,
Presiding Judge, RTC, 9th Judicial Region, Branch 3, Jolo, Sulu.
Recovered from
Abdel Dela Cruz possession were one (1) unit Cal 45 Armscor with serial number
218416 loaded with five (5) rounds of live ammunitions and three (3) pieces
magazine loaded with five (5) rounds of ammunitions each. When Abdel Dela Cruz was arrested, his two
(2) companions while under verification immediately ran prompting the operating
team to chase the two suspects and arrested them.
They were
identified as Jabar Ignohasim y Sampang, 24 years old, a resident of Bus-bus,
Jolo Sulu and Abdulla Yusup y Bakil, 27 years old, a resident of Talipao, Sulu.
Recovered from
possession of Jabar Ignohasim was one (1)
bag pack containing three (3) units of hand grenades, detonating cord
(commercial), time fuse (commercial) and two (2) pieces of non-electric
blasting cap, while from possession of
Abdulla Yusop y Bakil was one (1) sling bag containing one (1) unit of hand
grenade.
Investigation
disclosed that subject were all ASG members under Jolo- based Commander Alhapsi
Misaya, involved in the series of kidnapping and bombing incidents in Zamboanga
City and other neighboring provinces.
They were
tasked to create havoc during the celebration of Fiesta Pilar by hurling
grenades along the RT Lim Boulevard, Zamboanga City and plan to kidnap a still
unidentified Chinese businessman in Pasonanca, Zamboanga City.
Accordingly,
the three suspects arrived early morning of October 3, 2016 at Zamboanga City
on board a passenger vessel “Katrina” and checked –in at Salwa Hotel and
Atilano’s Pension House.
They were tracked
down by operating units in Salwa Hotel,
however, they noticed the presence of the authorities and went to Atilano’s
Pension House, where they were arrested.
Arrested
suspects and recovered items were brought to Zamboanga City Police Office for
