Zamboanga City - Several high-powered firearms, ammunition and explosives of lawless elements seized by the joint troops of the 7SRC ,14SRC and 3SRC in Barangay Katipunan Tuburan, Basilan earlier, said military official.
Western Mindanao Command (WesMinCom) Spokesperson Major Filemon Tan Jr. disclosed that the military troops seized one (1) M14 with eight (8) magazine and thirty-nine (39) ammunition; one (1) M16 rifle with scope, two (2) long magazine, eight (8) short magazine and eighty eight (88) ammunition, four (4) rifle grenades, one (1) binocular, two (2) bandoliers, one (1) pair combat boots and one (1) hammock.
Major Tan added , the military troops of 7SRC under army Lieutenant Serrano of Philippine Army and the another team of 14SRC lead by army Corporal Francisco of Philippine Army , while conducting patrols along barangay Katipunan, Tuburan of the said province one suspicious person whom upon seeing the troops and fired towards the patrolling troops while the person immediately ran towards one of the houses in the area and alerted another occupants who ran to different directions to mislead the military.But the military recovered the said ammunitions and explosives in the said area.
Tan said, the military still continue to hunt the remaining ASG in different provinces in Western Mindanao.(by: Becky D. De Asis-the redline news editor)
