Bayanihan Community Outreach Caravan held in Sulu


 SULU - The 35th Infantry (Makamandag) Battalion under Lieutenant Colonel Vladimir Lenos T Villanueva Infantry (General Staff Course) Philippine Army spearheaded the Bayanihan Community Outreach held in Barangay Latih, Patikul, Sulu wherein 1,428 beneficiaries were given free services last October 15 earlier.

Among of the services delivered are tooth extraction with 150 beneficiaries, 134 undergone medical consultation and check-up, 180 families received relief goods, 350 children fed with nutritious arrozcaldo, 450 individuals received mosquito nets, 14 youth circumcised and 200 shoe boxes loaded with school supplies distributed to children.

The activity was put into action with the participation of Local Government Units og Barangay Latih under Lorna T Albani and Patikul Mayor Nasser Hayudini, Board Member of Sulu 1st District Butch Izquierdo, Rural Health Unit headed by Dr Nasser Jalani, military doctors led by Major Roderick Montoya and Captain Patrick Fidel Yimtiman, 2nd Lieutenant Sarah Jane Mercado of the 1st Civil-Military Operations Battalion and Sulu dentists Dr Charina Isaac and Dr Jo Anne Ramirez.

Said humanitarian actions were enjoyed by the constituents with the Makamandag band performing lively music and parlor games to children while the caravan was ongoing.

This benevolence is part of the government effort in defeating the Abu Sayyaf Group and subsequently winning the peace in Sulu through Bayanihan activities. (with reeport by Cpt.Domingo Reyes, Jr./posted by Becky D. de Asis)
