55th Infantry Battalion give financial assistance to rebel surrenderee - NPA Commander arrested in Ozamis City


Cagayan de Oro City (The Redline News Philippines)  – The 55th Infantry “Vigilant” Battalion released financial  Livelihood  and Immediate Assistance to the three (3) former rebels amounting  to P65.000.00 during the flag raising ceremony conducted at provincial capitol of Misamis Occidental last May 10, 2017.

The awarding was done thru the joint effort of the DILG, PSWD, Office of the Governor Misamis Occidental, 55th Infantry "VIGILANT" Battalion and other LGU's of the said province.

Meanwhile,  the 55th Infantry Battalion  arrested  an alleged New People’s Army (NPA) commander  in Barangay Gango, Ozamiz City  together with an Iglesia Filipina Independiente bishop, his wife, and their driver last Thursday in Ozamis.

An alleged NPA Commander   Rommel Salinas was arrested after his  vehicle was flagged down in a checkpoint earlier.

Police served to Salinas five  warrants of arrest  on different cases including murder and frustrated murder.

Authorities also brought in Salinas’ companions in the vehicle: Iglesia Filipina Independiente Bishop Carlos Morales and his wife Maria Teofilina, and their driver Isadome Dalid.

Police chief Jovie Espenido of Ozamis  City  and Lt. Col. Pompeo Almagro of 55th Infantry Battalion said Morales personally knows Salinas and aided his travel.

But Morales denied knowing Salinas and his affiliation with the rebel group he said .  He added  that it  was for humanitarian consideration that he picked up Salinas on the road that rainy night he said. (Posted by Becky D. de Asis- The Redline News Philippines)
