ISLAMABAD, July 30 -- At least 13 people were killed and four others
injured as a passenger van hit a roadside gas pipeline in northern Pakistan on
Sunday morning, reported local Urdu TV channel Dunya.
The accident happened at about 7:20 a.m. local time when a passenger
van heading from Rawalpindi to Peshawar hit a roadside gas pipeline in Hasan
Abdal, a small town lying some 40 km northwest of the country's capital
Islamabad, the TV channel said.
A fire broke out following the collision, leaving eight people burned
to death on the spot, said the report, adding five others died later at
hospital.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation, police said.
In another development, four people were killed and three others
injured in a truck-trolley collision which happened in the country's southern
Sindh province on Sunday morning, according to local media reports. (Xinhua)
