Tandubas - The hidden paradise of the Autonomous Region

Tandubas is an island municipality  of Tawi- Tawi lies within, longitude 120deg, 06 min, to 120 deg. 22 min and latitude of 05 deg. It found in North East of Languyan, North West facing Celebes sea, South West of Sapa-Sapa and South East to South Ubian and a 4th class municipality.


Tandusbas a gateway or passage  to Asean countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia and China.

Entering Tandubas  is not yet easy to ride a 1 hour and 20 minutes on speedboats  from Bongao island, the capital town of the province.  You will seen  different beautiful views, different rocks formations , sparkling , clear waters, while  acquiring  a beautiful beaches along with. 

Fresh airs from the beautiful islands,  whispering  at your ears, while sun lights  kissing your lips turned to red roses, blooming faces, excited to reach the white sand of Tandubas,  printing the 1st steps into the hidden paradise that you will never resists.

Amazing place, very reached in culture and products even people are very accommodating. I thought this place is like Sulu, but  I’m wrong. “It just  paradise!".

Mayor Rahima A. Sali of Tandubas welcomed everybody wants to discover the beautiful Island of Tawi-Tawi. She is very jolly and accommodating lady mayor.She wants Tandubas a competitive municipality in terms of tourism and development. She knows that tourism is a key to progress. She urging her constituents to join her efforts to do something good for Tandubas.

 
Infrastructure:

Farm to market roads are almost concreted connecting to  far-flung barangays, covered court, core shelter housing and school buildings and water system, internet connetions and lights are available.
 
Products: Tandubas are reach of marine products such as  crabs, octopus, cuttle fish and mantis shrimps. Also dried fish one of their products, seaweeds and mat weaving.


Her mission;   Inspiring by peace-loving constituents, the foremost asset and strength  of LGU Tandubas and acting as an essential force towards sustainable  development, provide good governance and unwavering commitment to genuinely  and mutually work together for the common and good. An strong leadership and equally sharing bounties that globalization offers and promises with a well-balanced environment.
                               

History:

Tandubas had been a part of the sultanate of Sulu when the province of Sulu was created about a century ago, Tandubas was one of the district, by the virtue of executive order no. 355 dated July 01, 1958.

So many years the island had been named as Tanjung Bas. The Malaysian word Tanjung  has an equivalent in sama dialect which is Tandu. The name Tanjungbas has been changed by the natives to Tandubas, a named that was used from generation to generation.

Tandubas known as a hidden paradise of the Southern Philippines.
