Army’s Project Shoebox Reaches Sulu

FORT BONIFACIO, Taguig City – Civil-Military Operations Group, Philippine Army launches ‘Project Shoebox’ Season Six dubbed as ‘Kahon Para Sa Kapayapaan’ this June 2017 to benefit 2,443 Tausug students affected by hostilities between government forces and the terrorists ASG in Sulu.

This is the second time that CMOG, PA in collaboration with Junior Chamber International (JCI) San Juan Dambana accumulated shoeboxes containing school supplies, hygiene kits and short messages from the donors to manifest concern to these less fortunate and conflict-affected children in Sulu to inspire them to persevere in their studies.

Aside from the shoeboxes to be distributed to students, there are also 1,086 textbooks to be given to elementary and secondary schools identified to be within the area where ASG seek refuge like in the municipalities of Patikul and Talipao all of Sulu.

CMOG, PA under the command of Col. Thomas R. Sedano Jr, who introduced ‘Project Shoebox’ to the Philippine Army that is now being institutionalized by the organization, keeps on engaging various organizations for the furtherance of said program that intends to help impoverish students all-over the country.

On May 29, 2017 during the coordinating conference at the Division Office in Jolo, Dr. Tim J. Undain, Sulu Schools Division Superintendent expressed her gratitude to the military for prioritizing their students to be the beneficiaries of ‘Project Shoebox’. ‘Our students really need these supplies so we are happy that you once again prioritize us here in Sulu’, she said.  (posted by Becky D. de Asis-The Redline News PH)
