PNP releases 119 white doves on Independence Day

MANILA, Philppines - The Philippine National Police (PNP) joined the rest of the nation in celebrating the 119th Philippine Independence Day by releasing 119 white doves at its Camp Crame, Quezon City headquarters Monday.

The release of the white doves took place shortly after the flag-raising ceremonies.

Incidentally, PNP chief Director General Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa was not present in the event and had his address delivered by PNP Deputy Director Fernando Mendez, Jr., who first paid tribute to the police officers killed in the ongoing conflict with Maute Group terrorists in Marawi City, Lanao Del Sur, before reading his superior's message.

There, Dela Rosa expressed confidence and hope that the Filipinos' intense for freedom and democracy will not be extinguished aside from praying that lasting peace and development will come soon to the country.


The PNP chief, in his message, also said that the presence is the moment for police officers prove their dedication in upholding the rule of law to the public, in striving to maintain peace and order throughout the country. (Priam F. Nepomuceno/PNA)
