Cops return P740K jewelry stolen from Japanese in Laguna

SANTA ROSA CITY (PNA) -- After seeking assistance from the city cops here, the 32-year-old wife of a Japanese residing in Sta. Rosa Estate Don Jose village here was able to get back her stolen assorted jewelry worth PHP740,000.

Police reported on Friday that wife Ayako Suda complained of the missing sets of jewelry which she had earlier packed before her return flight to Japan the other day.

The victim discovered that all her jewelry were missing from the bag’s pockets and luggage.

The victim also talked to her house helper about the missing valuables but the latter denied taking them prompting her to call the police.

The maid later admitted stealing the jewelry and begged to get the stolen items from her house but failed to return to Suda’s residence.

According to the police, the suspect even offered to return the jewelry on condition that owner Suda would withdraw her complaint.

An entrapment operation was launched by the Don Jose police precinct led by PO2 Solania and PO1 Amangao at Paseo De Sta. Rosa near a book store which resulted in the arrest of the househelp and recovery of some jewelry.

The arrested suspect admitted that other pieces of jewelry were still pawned at Cebuana and Aguirre Pawnshops.

This prompted police, together with the maid, to proceed and redeem all the jewelry at the pawnshops and returned these to the owner. (Grace Tobias-OJT/PNA) posted by Becky D. de Asis - The Redline News PH
